    Description

THE Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2020 The Deutz house's wine precisely illustrates the art of 100% Chardonnay according to the Aÿ house: a clear balance between the chalky tension of the Côte des Blancs, the purity of the fruit and the tactile smoothness conferred by careful aging on lees.

The 2020 vintage in Champagne was marked by great precocity. generous sunshine and harvests started at the end of August. The Chardonnays there have reached remarkable phenolic maturity while retaining a preserved saline freshness thanks to cool nights at the end of the cycle.

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The wine is a beautiful pale gold with silvery highlights, the effervescence fine and consistent. The nose offers a delicate floral expression (white flowers, jasmine) followed by citrus aromas and subtle notes of white pepper. On the palate, the attack is crisp and lively, driven by a beautiful aromatic tension. The rich and ample body unfolds with a velvety texture. The finish, vibrant, saline, and mineral, is underscored by elegant bitterness. The signature of the chalky expression of great Chardonnay terroirs.

    Food & wine pairings

This champagne Lively and harmonious, it pairs well with delicate and gourmet dishes: scallop ceviche with citrus and elderflower vinaigrette, sea bass fillet or roasted turbot with beurre blanc.

Over time, Deutz has cultivated an increasingly respectful approach to Nature and its gifts: the porous white chalk that imparts its champagnes their distinctive minerality, and the ever-changing seasons of the vineyard, each unique in its own way. Today, this approach is embodied in a vision founded on sustainable viticulture and a deeper commitment than ever to the Champagne terroir, driven by a patient relationship with the natural rhythms of time, the House's primary requirement. A conversion to living, breathing wines, undertaken with conviction.

    Owner and history

Founded in Aÿ in 1838, Maison Deutz is one such winery, bearing witness to a boundless love for its terroir, its expertise, and the transmission of winemaking techniques continually reinvented. A House of Champagne Open to the world, its unique character has been shaped by nearly two centuries of exacting standards and independence. Faithful to its original spirit, it produces precise, balanced, and luminous champagnes, crafted with patience and precision in the cool silence of its "cradles"—three kilometers of chalk cellars that offer each vintage the conditions for exceptional aging. For this is the vocation of Maison Deutz: to cultivate an art of living where every champagne accurately reveals the quintessence of the great Champagne terroirs...

    Vinification and aging

100% Chardonnay, this Blanc de Blancs Millésimé is the most brilliant expression of the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs. In this vintage cuvée, the chalk speaks directly: freshness takes precedence over richness, verticality over breadth, in a pure mineral trajectory, taut as a line, for a champagne Bursting with energy and refinement. Chardonnay at its most direct.

    The team's opinion

THE Blanc de Blancs The 2020 vintage stands out for its aromatic brilliance, its vibrant energy, and its satiny texture. Remarkably fresh and dynamic from its release, it will evolve gracefully over 6 to 10 years (2025–2035), developing nuances of candied citrus and toasted hazelnut.
