Thanks to the expertise of the team (owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild - Lafite) and a rigorous selection process during the harvest, the domaine succeeded in producing a Pomerol that is supple, elegant, and focused on finesse rather than power.

    Tasting notes

This Pomerol pairs perfectly with refined dishes such as beef fillet in a pastry crust, duck breast with figs, or a mature cheese like Comté. Serve between 16 and 18°C after decanting for 1 to 2 hours to fully appreciate its complexity.

It is through one of those mysteries of geology that, on this plateau, southeast of Pomerol, a curious accident brought to the surface a long streak of gravel, a rare earth upon which the vineyard rests. Château The Gospel. Its location is quite privileged: bordered to the north by the vineyards of Château Petrus, he is not separated from Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion, to the south, only by a secondary road. On 22 hectares, 43 plots evoke by their name their environment (Maison, Cuvier), their place name (Catusseau, Chantecaille, Jean Faure) or even their configuration (La Pointe).

    Owner and history

In 1990, Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite acquired L'Évangile. The Ducasse family was then keen to ensure continuity of care and sustainability for the estate. In the house in the heart of the vineyards, built with Bordeaux stone and firmly set in its setting of mythical clayey gravel, bees and horses, winemakers and farmers cross paths.

    Vinification and aging

In the winery, research and work intertwine and are carried out with subtlety, never forgetting the raw material provided by the vines. L'Évangile is also a table always set to welcome its guests, whether curious or experts, around a ribeye steak grilled over the vine shoots of those same vines. And of course, a wine. A great wine of balance, powerful yet rounded, sharp yet smooth.

Château L'Évangile is also the first of the Barons de Rothschild Lafite estates to be farmed organically. All the vines have been replanted and are learning to adapt.

    The team's opinion

The 2013 vintage stands out with a more fluid, approachable, and ethereal profile than the estate's sun-drenched vintages. A wine of complete maturity, it is at its peak now and should be enjoyed between 2028 and 2030.
