    Owner and history

THE Château the Gospel is a domaine A wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation, on what is known as the "Right Bank" of the Bordeaux wine region – the area extending north of the Dordogne River and encompassing Pomerol, Saint-Émilion, and their satellite appellations. True to the grape varieties characteristic of this area, the Château The Gospel produces a wine with a predominantly Merlot character, which nevertheless regularly ranks among the highest rated in the Pomerol appellation. THE domaine It was acquired by the Léglise family in the 18th century and changed hands several times before being bought in 1990 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, owners of the Château Lafite Rothschild.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château L'Evangile is a meticulous process. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the bunches. After careful destemming, the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled vats to preserve the freshness of the aromas. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This process allows the oak to subtly integrate into the wine, while respecting the expression of the fruit and the terroir.

    The team's opinion

THE Château The 2017 vintage comes from a year marked by the devastating frost of April 2017 in Bordeaux. However, thanks to the privileged location of domaine On the upper plateau of Pomerol, the vineyard was largely spared by the frost. The vintage is characterized by aromatic freshness and a refined balance, positioning itself between the accessibility of the 2013 and the monumental density of the 2016
